DOS
Hier ist es noch einfach, denn es sind nur die Dateien Autoexec.bat und Config.Sys, und gegebenenfalls Dateien, die darin angefordert werden , die gesichert werden sollten. Das geschieht ohne Probleme mit einer Batch-Datei und eine HD Diskette, wird fast immer reichen. Zu denken ist aber auch daran, dass viele DOS-Anwendungsprogramme eine eingebaute Sicherungsfunktion haben mit der die Datendateien gesichert werden können. Diese sollte zusätzlich genutzt werden. Die DOS-Programme für die Disketten und Streamer-Sicherung sind vielfältig vorhanden und ganz unproblematisch.
DOS, Startdiskette.
Wenn Sie das "alte" DOS verwenden so sollten Sie auf jeden Fall eine Startdiskette anfertigen: Formatieren sie eine HD Diskette mit Format /S ,dabei wird das System übertragen, anschließend werden die Dateien Autoexec.bat und Config.Sys auf die Diskette kopiert und dann editiert, alle Pfadanweisungen herausgenommen und die darin genannten Dateien auf die Diskette kopiert: Beispiel: Aus C:\DOS\DISPLAY. SYS wird DISPLAY. SYS und aus C:\DOS wird DISPLAY.SYS nach A: kopiert. So stellt man sicher, dass alle Funktionen mit der Startdiskette aktiviert werden.
Ferner sollten die wichtigsten DOS-Dateien wie FDISK, FORMAT, SYS ebenfalls auf diese Diskette kopiert werden.
Will man das spätere Zurückändern sparen und damit gleichzeitig eine Sicherungskopie bewahren, so kopiert man vor dem ändern. Autoexec.bat und Config.Sys mit einer anderen Dateiendung. Beispiel: Copy Autoexec.bat Autoexec.Alt und sichert die *.ALT Datei zusätzlich.. Dass eine ähnliche Diskette mit einem Antiviren Programm zur Grundausstattung gehört, sei hier erwähnt, obwohl es nicht direkt zur Datensicherung gehört.
